Dr. James Lebolt spends his days helping his patients with upper arm sprains, shoulder pain, and strains. At times, there is no avoiding surgery, but many of his patients could be helped with a well-designed shoulder brace.

Dr. Lebolt, DO is an orthopedic shoulder & elbow surgery doctor who practices in Grand Rapids, MI. He has been practicing for 16 years. Dr. Lebolt is affiliated with Spectrum Health – Blodgett Hospital and Spectrum Health Medical Center – Butterworth Hospital. His practice is located at the Spectrum Health Medical Group Orthopedic Surgery 4100 Lake Drive.

He was motivated by spending his days helping patients with upper arm sprains, shoulder pain and strains. In an effort to find a better way to help patients avoid surgery, he was inspired to work on designing a better shoulder brace. He was familiar with SHI so he called Eric VanMiddendorp, MSE biomedical engineer for SHI and they began collaborating on the project.

Dr. Lebolt stated, “I’ve had high school seniors, athletes, come in with shoulder injuries that had to miss their entire last season in their sport,” Dr. Lebolt says. “And construction workers who would have to take time off work.”
