Helping Talent Find Their “Fit” in West Michigan
On July 25, several representatives from area companies attended a MiDevice meeting at Spectrum Health Innovations (SHI).
MiDevice is a consortium run by The Right Place to give medical device companies the opportunity to collaborate, cooperate and promote their expertise in the industry – from concept design through manufacturing and distribution.
West Michigan is home to one of the fastest growing medical device clusters in the Midwest.
Eric Icard, senior business development manager at The Right Place noted, “This growth is fueled by the region’s world class health services network, robust education and research community, and highly-skilled life science workforce. Our success is also driven by strong collaborative partnerships between private medical device companies, healthcare systems, and universities.”
The goal of MiDevice is to continue building collaboration around core competencies, create opportunities to leverage these competencies, and ultimately grow the medical device industry in the region into a nationally recognized medical device cluster.
Hosting the event at Spectrum Health Innovations was not only an opportunity but a natural fit for such an event.
Spectrum Health Innovations works directly with Spectrum Health employees to discover new ideas and work collaboratively with the community to develop innovations that deliver outcomes that improve the lives of the patients we serve.
Scott Daigger of Spectrum Health Innovations opened the meeting with an overview about SHI and he shared several technologies that have been developed by Spectrum Health employees. Click here to see some SHI technologies.
MiDevice has 26 members, several of which attended and provided an overview of their organizations and how each fits into the West Michigan medical device community.
Topics and capabilities ranged from recruitment and retention and helping talent find their “fit” in West Michigan to identifying specific development capabilities from concept, prototype, validation, manufacturing and distribution.
For Spectrum Health Innovations, it was an opportunity to meet others with the same passion about collaboration and improving healthcare for patients and Spectrum Health employees.
We look forward to future engagements and opportunities to collaborate together.
