By 2020, the home health industry will see a 69% growth in additional jobs within the home care field. That’s 1.3 million jobs! The reason for this growth? People are seeing home health care as a need, it’s more affordable, they have a desire to age in place, and simply the convenience of it (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2015).
Dr. James Lebolt spends his days helping his patients with upper arm sprains, shoulder pain, and strains. At times, there is no avoiding surgery, but many of his patients could be helped with a well-designed shoulder brace.
On July 25, several representatives from area companies attended a MiDevice meeting at Spectrum Health Innovations (SHI).
MiDevice is a consortium run by The Right Place to give medical device companies the opportunity to collaborate, cooperate and promote their expertise in the industry – from concept design through manufacturing and distribution.

Innovation starts with a good idea. However, a good idea alone is no guarantee of viable, marketable product. Depending on the complexity of the product innovation, it takes many experts, time and tenacity to bring an idea to fruition.
Spectrum Health Innovations (SHI) was able to participate in the Teen Entrepreneurship Summer Academy (TESA) this year. “We participate in several community events and activities each year. This one is one of my favorites and I look forward to it every year. What the students come up with in one week is truly amazing.” Says Lori Henry.
